Whilst we celebrate Malaysia Day, let us all hope, pray, ponder, and reflect for a better and brighter future together. As we continue to grow and develop, let us not forget the sacrifices and contributions of our forefathers and predecessors. So, let us explore some of the things that make us truly Malaysian!

What makes us all Malaysian? As peace-loving and readily inclusive individuals who accept and co-exist with their fellow citizens, it is our shared values and unique perspectives that binds us together amidst a diversity of faiths, ideas, influences, and experiences. Our multi-cultural heritage is truly our greatest strength. We live together in the spirit of unity, humanity, harmony, and solidarity. As a nation of diverse cultures and ethnicities, we fully appreciate the values which we cherish and treasure. Being Malaysian is not just about knowing the national anthem; it is embodying the spirit of patriotism through all our actions and activities. It is also acknowledging our unique Malaysian culture and heritage in this land of dreams and happiness.

If there is one thing that Malaysians love to do is to eat! And when it comes to food, we are always spoilt for choice. Be it Malay, Chinese, Indian or Borneo (Sabah & Sarawak) cuisines, food unites us all. In a food paradise like Malaysia, nasi lemak reigns supreme as our top national dish as well as the number one Malaysian breakfast. Where else on the local menu can you get mouth-watering delights such as roti canai, assam laksa, bak kut teh, char keoy teow, banana leaf rice, nasi kandar, satay, cendol, and much more? Not to mention, the all-time favourite and our very own ‘king of fruits’ – the durian! In fact, durians are the most loved food item period that practically unites Malaysians regardless of our personal preferences and tastebuds.

Malaysians live harmoniously with one another, being inclusive, and drawing strength and unity from our diverse cultures and heritage. Our differences do not define us, they bring us closer together. Also, Malaysians are absolutely a passionate lot. Nothing unites us faster and stronger than our common love for sports as well as food. We are all united, irrespective of our differences – whether it is cheering for our favourite teams or savouring our favourite dishes. With unity in diversity, a strong ‘can-do’ attitude and a positive mindset driven by the indomitable ‘Malaysia Boleh’ spirit, we can all achieve what we aim for in our quest for a progressive and prosperous Malaysia!

We are a relatively young nation with our fair share of trials and tribulations. We are uniquely poised and positioned to overcome these adversities and challenges through an abundance of natural resources, ethnic diversities, creative ingenuity as well as a vibrant ecosystem. We continue to enjoy peace and prosperity throughout our independent history. Together, let us all strive to inculcate this legacy of national unity for the sake of future generations. Our future lies with our children towards a sustainable and developed country which we feel proud to be Malaysian. When we turn challenges into opportunities, we can then transform Malaysia into a great nation. Cornerstone Xstate wishes all Malaysians, A Happy Malaysia Day!
